So I joined the Threads App. I loved it for the first 3 days. It was like old school blogging and tweeting. I saw so many of my old online friends and it was a fun chatty time.
On the third day I wanted to post a question that might get people interacting and so I asked: “Do you collect rocks? Show me some pictures of your rocks”
Crickets. Which is fine. I went about my life, no biggie. Then 15 hours later I got one response. It was just “Nope”. Anyway, again, went about my life. Well that one “Nope” reply meant that the original thread got put on the main “wall” again. Someone I don’t even follow replied with “😂 rocks? really?”.
Not going to lie, I felt immediate embarrassment. My cheeks even got hot. Then I got kind of mad. I was trying to start a unique conversation and instead of just reading it, saying “ok that content is not for me” these two people decided to be mean. Ok then, guess its just me who collects rocks…..even though geology is a whole-ass job and area of study.
Full disclosure: I blocked those two people and then deleted my post about rocks.
I feel weird about it still (the deleting the post, not the blocking the negativity).
Also I know it’s not just me who collects rocks. There are many many memes about it. Here are two I particularly enjoyed. 😊
So: Hi, I’m Kristi and when I see a unique rock or seashell or sea glass I pick it up. It goes in a jar on my shelf and I like it.
