I have affectionately dubbed Christmas 2010 ‘The Year of Books’ because I think my entire family got together and said ‘Well Kristi has a 3 year old & a 6 month old so she’s got nothing but time to read, let’s get her books!’
I got a lot of books, which hardly ever happens! Not because I don’t read but because I usually get the books myself so I can be hard to buy for.
Today I thought I’d tell you a little about each book I received and then when I am done reading a book I’ll write a ‘book report’ post.

The first book is a funny one:
Don’t You Just Hate That?: 738 Annoying Things By Scott Cohen. This one is a small funny book of things that are annoying. I’m about a 1/4 of the way through it and it is funny and most of the ‘things’ are true!
5-Minute Microwave Canning: Includes Fruits, Preserves, Chutneys, Sauces and more! By Isabel Webb. I’ve started reading this cookbook also and in the first part the author talks about using canning jars (yes the kind with the metal rings/tops) in the microwave. She claims it is perfectly safe if the ratio of metal to other materials is 30% metal to 70% other substances. I’m not sure if this is something I will be trying but we will have to see. I’ll have to read more about it I guess.
100 Questions From My Child By Mallika Chopra. In this book the author states she addresses 100 Questions that our children ask us to explain more and gives us the answers that will ‘foster a child’s imagination, creativity & sense of self’ (taken from inside the dust jacket of the book). I’ve read the first few questions and I can’t wait to read more. It looks like a pretty quick but thought-provoking read!
Bloggers on the Bus: How the Internet Changed Politics and the Press By Eric Boehlert. This books looks to be a very interesting read, and not just because I am a blogger (we can all agree I am far from a Political/Journalism blogger), but because I think it is amazing that mainstream journalism tends to ‘brush off’ bloggers like we are a fad or don’t know what we are talking about simply because we can hop on any computer and in a few clicks get our opinion heard for free. But we are the people, the masses, the voters. I think that this topic is one that needs to be explored further. Can’t wait to read!
Fleece for Kids: Easy-To-Sew Clothes & Toys By Mary Emery Vollertsen. I have to admit- I’m kind of a fleece snob. But only because every time I wear it my hair sticks out like I touched an electrical outlet. I hate static and it seems to find me the most when fleece is involved. But I have to admit- some of these projects look adorable and easy. So I will try them and hope my kids don’t mind static haha.
Step-By-Step Bed & Bath Projects (Do-It-Yourself Decorating) By Heather Luke. I have only quickly flipped through this book so far but there seems to be some interesting projects in there. I always love looking through & trying out new sewing projects so this should be fun!
Simple Gifts to Stitch: 30 Elegant and Easy Projects By Jocelyn Worrall. Again- I flipped through and I like what I see. I will be trying out and blogging any projects I try from this book.
And finally,
Teach Yourself Visually WordPress By Janet Majure. My mom got me this book because she knew I recently switched to self-hosted wordpress from Blogger. I’ve been flipping through it and it is really good- it does start from the very very beginning so if you are completely new to blogging in general you will enjoy it from the first chapter. I started a little more in the middle to the ‘nuts and bolts’ kind of stuff about wordpress. Can’t wait to read more and will definitely share it as I learn!
and I thought I’d show you all the great books my kids got also:

What good books did you get for Christmas? Or any time in 2010? Give me your recommendations in the comments!
