Conference Prep for Preggos: The Clothes

Many of you know that I am headed back to my favorite blogging conference, Blissdom,  as a second year Community Leader in less than two weeks! This is my first year attending pregnant so I decided to do a little mini series on

Conference Prep for Preggos!

Today’s topic is The Clothes!

Basically the same rules apply but with a little twist.

Number one Rule is to be comfy. If you are not normally a heel wearer please don’t try to be for a conference (pregnant or not) because there is a lot of walking and standing & your balance might not be what it used to be with that belly sticking out front ;)

I also think about shoes in terms of how many outfits can I wear the same shoe with. Below is my version of maternity conference wear for pregnant bloggers.

day outfit for pregnancy

This day look is comfy but still stylish. I kept the looks basics so you could find these pieces at GoodWill or even your own closet. I don’t think spending over $40 on any one piece of maternity clothes is smart. Also? The cardigan is not maternity. Just don’t button it ;)

Jeans, or maternity dress pants, work well because you can sit and stand for a long time in them and they can be worn more than once, just change up the top. You really want to do this so you save room in your suitcase for the swag!

Cardigan is for when the conference rooms are chilly & I wear t-shirts so that if I get hot I still look pulled together. Ballet flats in a neutral color work with more than one outfit and are comfy.

The night look could actually be a day look if you switch out the clutch because it is a simple, forgiving, jersey dress in a color (not just black!) and I used the same shoe from the day look. I went this way because you do want to dress up for the night events but you also want to be comfy in case you stand for longer periods and also if you want to dance.

What do you think?

Edited to Add: After publishing I saw that one Blissdom attendee had shared her Google spreadsheet for packing for the conference. I wanted to share it here in case you wanted to use it as well! Thanks to Jessica at The Be Present Project for sharing it!

Are you pregnant and attending a conference this year? Have you in the past? Any tips?

  1. Thank you so much for this post! I’m going to be 12-13 weeks pregnant at the time of #Blissdom…you know, still small enough to where no one will know I’m pregnant but big enough to where I can’t wear many of my normal clothes (this is our 3rd child, so I’m growing a little faster this time – eek). I’ve been looking everywhere for clothes and completely forgot about Target! Their dresses are so perfect, I think I might just buy a couple today! Hope to meet you in Dallas!

    • Jennifer, Oh I’m glad this post was helpful! Don’t rule out any second hand stores in your area either! I found some really cute tops & skirts that were so gently worn they were practically brand new! (yay for not wearing maternity clothes very long lol)
I hope to meet you too! I’ll be just about 20 weeks pregnant during the conference & I’m a Design Community Leader so I’ll be here, there and everywhere :)
